Low-powered Compressors usually produce a maximum of 0.5 CFM, and high-powered units provide 8 to 10 CFM. Different air tools operate with different levels of CFM.This process of slowing the radial movement of the refrigerant converts the kinetic energy to potential energy in the form of pressure. Centrifugal compressors have the largest capacity and are well suited for compressing large volumes of refrigerant.Rotary screw, vane and reciprocating air compressors are the three most common types of air positive displacement compressors found in small and medium sized industries.Since SCFM measures volumetric airflow at standard conditions, it will always be higher than the CFM value for an air compressor.Scroll compressors are more efficient because they don't use pistons, reeds, or valves. When the first pocket of the scroll set closes and captures a volume of refrigerant, all of it is swept along in the compression process and discharged out of the scroll members to the system.Compressor capacity-control methods are utilised to maintain a required compressed gas delivery under variable process conditions. The main capacity control methods for reciprocating compressors are variable-speed drives, suction valve loaders, step-less methods, clearance pockets and bypass recycling.
