It is performed by a group of machine tools called die punches. Die punches are machine tools that apply pressure to form or cut sheet workpieces like metals, plastic, fiber, paper, fabric, etcPunch and die is a type of cutting tool equipment used in punching and forging work, which is a metal forming process that requires high heat. This process needs a 'punch' as a pusher on the cutting workpiece, and the die is a secondary object that the punch pushes indie, tool or device for imparting a desired shape, form, or finish to a material. Examples include a perforated block through which metal or plastic is drawn or extruded, the hardened steel forms for producing the patterns on coins and medals by pressure, and the hollow molds into which metal or plastic is forced.Generally, the materials used for punch and die, holder, are SS400 or S50C. There is not much difference between the two. Among cast iron types, FC250 is used. When high rigidity is required SKS3 is used after heat treatment.Few of the basic types include center punch, prick punch, pin punch and drift punch.
