Product Details
A Hydraulic Cylinder is a mechanical actuator that converts hydraulic pressure (fluid power) into linear motion and force. It is widely used in industrial machines, construction equipment, and hydraulic systems where heavy loads need to be moved, lifted, pushed, or pulled. How a Hydraulic Cylinder Works Hydraulic Fluid Pressure Pressurized oil is supplied through a pump into the cylinder. Piston Movement The fluid enters the cylinder chamber, pushing the piston in a straight line. Linear Motion Output As the piston moves, the piston rod extends or retracts, creating linear force and motion. Controlled Operation Direction and speed are controlled using hydraulic valves and flow controls. Main Parts of a Hydraulic Cylinder Cylinder Barrel – Outer body where the piston moves Piston – Divides the cylinder into two chambers Piston Rod – Extends out to deliver motion End Caps – Front and rear covers Seals – Prevent leakage and maintain pressure Ports – Entry and exit points for hydraulic oil Types of Hydraulic Cylinders Single Acting Cylinder Oil pressure moves the piston in one direction; return is by spring or load. Double Acting Cylinder Oil pressure moves the piston in both directions (extend & retract). Telescopic Cylinder Multi-stage cylinder for long strokes. Tie-Rod Cylinder Uses tie rods for structural support. Welded Cylinder Heavy-duty and compact design, barrel welded to end caps.
