This method is used to get the dirt out of clothes without damaging the individual fibers of the clothes. Instead of using soap and water, dry cleaning is achieved using a cleaning solventChemical solvent, other than water, is used for dry−cleaning of clothes. This solvent used is typically tetrachloroethylene.Dry cleaning is necessary to protect fabrics that would be damaged by the heat or water of your traditional washer and dryer and to remove stains that are not removed by a “wet” cleaning process, such as grease and oil.
