Electric chain hoists use a load chain as the lifting medium. The load chain is pulled by a motor that converts electrical energy to mechanical energy used to lift the load. The electric hoist motor is housed inside a heat-dissipating shell, which is typically made from aluminum.A chain hoist, or chain block, is a pulley system made to lift loads vertically. Chain blocks double the pulling force when lifting a load and are sold with varying lifting capacities. A chain block has multiple gears and two primary chains. These two chains are the hand chain and the load chain.The hand chain wraps around a wheel that supports the lifting mechanism by pulling. The lifting chain is used to lift and lower the load by maneuvering the hand chain. This type of hoist system can be used in manufacturing facilities, construction sites, auto shops and warehouses.
