The galvo head (short for galvanometer scanner head) is a high-speed, high-precision device that directs the laser beam from the source onto the workpiece. Mirrors: At the core of the system are two small mirrors mounted on high-speed servo motors. One controls the X-axis movement, and the other controls the Y-axis. Motors: The galvanometer motors rotate the mirrors with exceptional speed and accuracy, allowing the laser beam to trace complex patterns rapidly. Lenses: A focusing lens (often an F-theta lens) is used to ensure a consistent spot size and accurate focus across the entire working area. In 3D systems, a Z-linear lens dynamically adjusts the focal length for curved or uneven surfaces. Control Software: A control system translates digital design files into precise commands for the motors, ensuring seamless coordination of the beam's path. Key Advantages Speed: Galvo heads can move the laser beam at speeds of several meters per second, significantly boosting productivity compared to traditional gantry systems. Precision: They offer high positional accuracy (often micron-level) for intricate and detailed results.
