Main ingredients include fly ash, water, quicklime or lime sludge, cement, aluminium powder and gypsum. Autoclave increases the hardness of the block by promoting quick curing of the cement. Gypsum acts as a long term strength gainer.The reduction in water leads to improved strength. Because some fly ash contains larger or less reactive particles than Portland cement, significant hydration can continue for six months or longer, leading to much higher ultimate strength than concrete without fly ash.Gypsum not only improves the reduction in the loss of strength due to soaking even at low curing periods but also improves the durability of stabilised fly ashes due to repeated cycles of wetting and drying.
