Rotational molding, commonly referred to as "rotomolding", is a plastic casting technique used to produce large hollow, seamless, and double-walled parts. It is a three-stage process that involves a mold on a rotating frame, a heating chamber, and a cooling chamber.In rotomolding, plastic resins is poured into the open cavity of a 2 or more part mold. The exact type and amount of resin is dictated by the part's predetermined “recipe” based on the desired wall thickness and other characteristics. The mold or tool is then closed and bolted shut creating a tight seal.Conclusion. Apart from other plastic molding technologies, rotational molding can manufacture much more sturdy and flexible items, which has a smooth surface and consistent wall density. Rotomolded parts have more plastic in the outer corners and sides of the mold.
