The CKINSTO High Current Endurance Tester is an essential piece of equipment used to assess the long-term reliability and thermal stability of electrical and electronic components when subjected to their maximum rated or specified high current. Unlike a short-time current tester which measures a component's ability to withstand a massive fault for a fraction of a second, the Endurance Tester focuses on continuous or repetitive operation over an extended period. Primary Purpose and Function The main function of this apparatus is to perform Current Temperature Rise Tests (also known as Heat Run Tests) and Electrical Endurance Tests on various devices. This verifies: Thermal Stability (Temperature Rise): It ensures the component (e.g., switchgear terminal, busbar joint, connector, or circuit breaker contacts) does not experience excessive heating when carrying its maximum continuous rated current. The temperature rise is measured against a reference point (usually the ambient temperature) and must remain below the limits specified by standards like IEC, UL, or IS. Electrical Contact Reliability: For switching devices (like circuit breakers or switches), it may be combined with a mechanical endurance mechanism to perform repeated make and break cycles while carrying the rated current. This tests how the contacts withstand the cumulative stress of arcing and heating over thousands of operations. General Description and Features The high current endurance tester is a sophisticated system comprising several key units: 1. High-Current Source (Power Unit) Capacity: A specialized current injector or transformer capable of delivering a high, stable RMS current (e.g., up to 20,000 A, 40,000 A, or specific capacities like 6 A to 32 A for small devices) for prolonged durations (hours). Adjustability: The output current is precisely adjustable to match the rated current of the device under test (DUT). 2. Control and Monitoring System Automation: The system typically uses a Microcontroller or PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) with a Touch Screen HMI (Human-Machine Interface) for setting parameters and automatic control. Duration Control: Precise control over the test duration (which can be several hours) and the current profile. 3. Temperature Measurement (Thermocouples) Instrumentation: Equipped with multiple, high-accuracy K-type thermocouples (often 10 to 12 channels) and a data logger to measure the temperature at various points on the DUT (e.g., terminals, busbar joints, connection points). Measurement: It records the maximum temperature and the temperature rise ($\Delta T$) above the ambient temperature throughout the test run. 4. Test Fixture and Busbar System Mounting: Features a robust copper busbar assembly and clamping system to securely mount the DUT and ensure low-resistance connections for accurate current injection. Thermal Environment: The entire setup is often placed within a controlled test corner or chamber to ensure the ambient conditions (air temperature, air speed) comply with the testing standards.
