The quenched metal undergoes a martensitic, Induction hardening uses induced heat and rapid cooling (quenching) to increase the hardness and durability of steel. Induction is a no-contact process that quickly produces intense, localized and controllable heat. With induction, only the part to be hardened is heated.The three most common forms of induction hardening are surface hardening, through hardening, and selective hardening. Surface hardening for example is a key hardening process in automotive components.Traverse hardening is used extensively in the production of shaft type components such as axle shafts, excavator bucket pins, steering components, power tool shafts and drive shafts. The component is fed through a ring type inductor which normally features a single turn.This is because it features low-level CO2 emissions, a clean environment and environmentally-friendly technology, and it offers the advantage of energy conservation through outstanding productivity by rapid heating using IH technology.
