They are used in a variety of cleanroom applications to create an ideal environment for handling critical component inspections, assembling optical components or working with pharmaceutical ingredients.A clean bench is an enclosed workbench that is controlled to a certain air cleanliness level to prevent contamination such as dust, dirt, and airborne microorganisms.Horizontal laminar flow hoods direct air, well, horizontally. Air is pushed through a HEPA or ULPA filter positioned on the back wall and moves forward across the work surface until it exits the enclosure.Laminar flow clean benches (also known as laminar flow hoods) provide an aseptic space to work with a product or specimen without contaminating it with particulates such as microorganisms. Laminar flow clean benches provide no protection for the user or the environment as airflow is directed out of the cabinet.
