A hydraulic press is a machine press using a hydraulic cylinder to generate a compressive force. It uses the hydraulic equivalent of a mechanical lever, and was also known as a Bramah press after the inventor, Joseph Bramah, of England. He invented and was issued a patent on this press in 1795.Also known as metal pressing, deep drawing is a sheet metal forming process which is typically done at room temperature. It uses radial tension-tangential compression to form the metal and is used in a press with other forming techniques, such as beading and coining.A hydraulic press is made up of two interconnected cylinders. Each cylinder is filled with hydraulic fluid, and one is bigger than the other. The bigger cylinder is referred to as the Ram, while the smaller one is referred to as the Plunger.
