Reverse Osmosis / RO is a technology used to remove dissolved solids and impurities from water using a semi-permeable RO membrane which allows the passage of water but leaves the majority of dissolved solids and other contaminants behind.Reverse osmosis (RO) desalination is a treatment process for production of fresh, low- salinity potable water from saline water source (seawater or brackish water) via membrane separation.There are two types of RO plants; one is the domestic RO plant made to suit the needs at a smaller level. The second is the commercial/industrial RO plant made to suit water needs at a more significant level like schools, hospitals, etc.The five most important parameters in reverse osmosis are the silt density index (SDI), differential pressure, normalized permeate flow, percent rejection and pressure drop coefficientThe salt solution is subjected to pressure against the semi-permeable membrane. Remember that the applied pressure is greater than the osmotic pressure. Thereby, the molecules move easily from a highly concentrated solution to a less concentrated solution.Industrial process water treatment is necessary because superior water quality is essential for many manufacturing procedures. A high level of mineral content in water, for example, may create unwanted problems such as streaking and spotting during the application of industrial coatings.
