A Cement Autoclave is a high-pressure, high-temperature vessel used in the manufacture and testing of cement and concrete products, particularly autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) blocks, concrete cubes, and cement mortars. Its primary purpose is to accelerate hydration reactions and improve the strength and durability of cement-based materials through steam curing under pressure. Components Pressure Vessel / Chamber A cylindrical, steel chamber capable of withstanding high pressure and temperature. Designed for steam-tight sealing. Steam Generator / Boiler Produces saturated steam that enters the autoclave. Maintains constant temperature and pressure during curing. Control Panel / Valves Controls steam flow, temperature, and pressure. Safety valves prevent overpressure accidents. Specimen Trays / Racks Hold cement or concrete samples uniformly for curing. Ensure even exposure to steam. Pressure and Temperature Gauges Monitor conditions inside the autoclave. Essential for quality control and process consistency. Safety Features Pressure relief valves, automatic shut-off, and locking mechanisms** to prevent accidents. Working Principle Cement or concrete specimens are placed on trays inside the autoclave. Steam is injected under controlled pressure (typically 0.8–1.2 MPa) and temperature (around 175–200°C). High-pressure steam accelerates the hydration of cement and the strength gain of concrete.
