This allows medium duty lathe machine to work consistently with high precision even under high pressure.A light duty lathe machine is designed for small scale jobs at workshops and tool rooms. One can easily turn, drill, groove, shape, cut, knurl and create threads on the harder metal or wooden surfaces by using a light duty lathe at a workshop.Lathes can be roughly divided into three types, engine lathes, turret lathes, and special lathes. The basic engine lathe is used for most lathes, with the smaller bench or portable machines, or larger vertical tables standing on the floor.These lathes are used for production work where large quantities of identical work pieces are manufactured. They are called semi-automatic lathes as some of the tasks are performed by the operators and the rest by the machines themselves. A semi skilled operator can do this at low cost and at shorter time.general size is about a 15-inch swing with 36 to 48 inches between centers. Many tool room lathes are used for special tool and die production due to the high accuracy of the machine.
