Modular conveyors are a flat belt conveyor often referred to as Radius belts and are made up of individual plastic or steel modules usually linked together using joint rods. Modular belt conveyors offer a number of advantages including the curved sections of belts which are available.Modular belt conveyor are a middle ground between belt conveyors and chain conveyors. A modular belt consists of individual plastic modules usually linked together with joint rods. This modular belt is driven by chain spockets; the base frame of the conveyor is constructed on standard profile supports.There are two basic types of conveyors: powered and gravity. Powered conveyors have some sort of external energy source to keep the items on the conveyor moving, typically by manipulating the conveyor surface.Troughed belt conveyors are generally not effective at inclines greater than 18 degrees, as material slippage on the belt becomes a major concern. Conversely, steep incline conveyors can convey material at inclines up to 90°.
