A molten sulfur filter typically consists of a two-stage filtration system consisting of a horizontal pressure leaf filter with a steam jacket to maintain the sulfur in the molten state, followed by a polishing/safety cartridge filter (Donovan and Barnett, 1959).Molten sulfur is produced from refining and gas operations facilities in the sulfur recovery units. Mostly, sulfur is produced in order to comply with environmental regulations with regards to H2S (highly toxic gas). The sulfur is mostly used in producing fertilizers.
