The machine chest press is a machine-based exercise targeting the chest. It approximates the motion of a bench press but is usually performed facing forward and seated upright. Many machines offer multiple grip options, such as overhand, neutral (palms facing), or underhand.Maintain a neutral wrist position with your wrists in line with your forearms. Exhale and push outward until your arms are fully extended (don't lock the elbows). Keep your head steady against the back support during this movement and your neck still. You should feel resistance against the horizontal push.Brace the abdominal muscles, tilt the chin slightly toward the chest and ensure you are in a stable and comfortable position. You're ready to lift. Push the weights upward while exhaling, taking care not to lock out the elbows in an explosive movement.The machine press works many of the same muscles as the bench press. This includes the “big three”: the pecs, front delts, and triceps. But other muscles such as the biceps, traps, rhomboids, rotator cuff, and lats are also engaged throughout the movement, The chest press machine is an excellent exercise for beginners.
