The process of movement of solvent through a semipermeable membrane from the solution to the pure solvent by applying excess pressure on the solution side is called reverse osmosis. Reverse osmosis is a membrane treatment process primarily used to separate dissolved solutes from water.Osmosis helps in stabilizing the internal environment of the organism by balancing the levels of water and intracellular fluids. Also, the nutrients and minerals enter the cell by osmosis which is necessary for the survival of cells.The average flow rate for faucets is between 1.0 gpm and 2.2 gpm. In the US, the maximum flow rate for kitchen and bathroom faucets is 2.2 gpm at 60 psi.
