Screw conveyors are used to convey bulk material from almost any position (vertical, horizontal, or at an incline) and are one of the most reliable methods of conveyance. The screw conveyor is composed of a pipe with a welded steel strip that is formed into a continuous helix. The helix is referred to as the flighting. The types of screw conveyors (based on flow path) are the horizontal screw conveyor, inclined screw conveyor, and vertical screw conveyor. Other types of screw conveyors include the shaft less screw conveyor and the live bottom screw conveyor.Screw feeders are used in thousands of material handling applications and designed to meter bulk materials at a controlled feed rate. A standard screw conveyor is normally fed by another conveyor and the amount of material being discharged is directly proportional to the amount being introduced at the inlet.
