The Siemens LME21 is a microprocessor-based burner controller designed for the startup and supervision of 1- or 2-stage gas or gas/oil burners. It is the modern replacement for the older LGB21 and LMG21 series. 1. LME21 Model Variations The model numbers differ based on their pre-purge time (t1) and safety time (TSA). All models listed below are the "C2" series (230V AC). For 120V AC, the suffix is "C1". Specifications Mains Voltage: 230V AC +10% / -15% (or 120V AC for C1 models). Power Consumption: ~12 VA. Degree of Protection: IP40 (when mounted). Operating Temperature: 20 to +60 °C. Flame Supervision: Ionization Probe: $5\ \mu A$ DC minimum current. UV Detector: Siemens QRA... (requires AGQ3...11 ancillary unit for mains interface). Mounting Base: AGK11 (standard 13-pin). 3. Terminal Wiring Terminal Function 1 Phase (L) 2 Neutral (N) 3 Burner Motor / Fan 4 Ignition Transformer 5 Fuel Valve 1 (Stage 1) 6 Fuel Valve 2 (Stage 2) 7 Air Pressure Switch (Signal input) 10 Fault Alarm Output / Remote Reset 11 Ionization Probe / Flame Input 12 Safety Loop (Thermostats and Limiters) 4. Operational Sequence Detail Start-up: Thermostat on Terminal 12 closes. Pre-purge (t1): Terminal 3 starts the fan. The controller checks that the Air Pressure Switch (Terminal 7) closes. Pre-ignition (t3): The ignition transformer starts sparking shortly before the valve opens. Safety Time (TSA): Fuel Valve 1 (Terminal 5) opens. The probe must see a flame within 3–5 seconds. Stage 2: After a delay (t4), Terminal 6 is energized for the second stage/high fire. 5. Multicolor LED DiagnosticsThe LME21 features a diagnostic reset button. If the unit locks out (Solid Red), you can read the "Pulse Codes" by pressing the button: 2 Flashes: No flame established during safety time. 3 Flashes: Air pressure switch fault (either failed to close or is stuck in the closed position). 4 Flashes: Extraneous light (flame signal detected before the gas valve opens). 7 Flashes: Loss of flame during operation. 10 Flashes: Internal error or wiring fault.
