danfoss new expansioAn expansion valve (also called a TXV, thermostatic expansion valve, or in some cases EEV/electronic expansion valve) is the device in a refrigeration/air-conditioning circuit that governs how much liquid refrigerant enters the evaporator, by "throttling" (expanding) the refrigerant and maintaining the correct superheat at the evaporator outlet. For Danfoss in particular: Their "Thermostatic expansion valves" page says: "Danfoss offers thermostatic expansion valves for precise operation and long service life … tailored to various refrigerants and operating ranges, fixed or adjustable superheat settings and many connection options." One model, the TD 1 series, is described as "designed to control liquid injection into small capacity evaporators … capacities from 0.42 to 3.88 kW (0.12 to 1.11 TR) for R134a". n valves
