The advantages of a Transformer based unit are that they are usually cheaper and less complex, so theoretically more reliable long termThe transformer welding machine permits the welder to choose the output current by moving a winding core away or closer from the secondary winding, It can also shift a magnetic shunt inside and outside of the transformer core utilizing saturating reactor in a series with an alterable approach with secondary current Transformer welders use a “step-down transformer.” This simple technology takes a high-voltage, low-amperage current and reverses it into a low-voltage, high amperage current. So, an AC high voltage input (110V, 220V, 380V, etc.)Connect the ohmmeter across the line leads that you disconnected from the control. You should read zero ohms, or “continuity”, through the primary of the transformer. Next connect the ohmmeter between either line lead and the secondary of the transformer. You should read infinite ohms, or “no continuity”.
