A hydraulic press is a machine press using a hydraulic cylinder to generate a compressive force. It uses the hydraulic equivalent of a mechanical lever, and was also known as a Bramah press after the inventor, Joseph Bramah, of England.a machine in which great force with slow motion is communicated to a large plunger by means of liquid force into the cylinder in which it moves by a piston pump of small diameter to which the power is applied. called also Bramah press, hydrostatic press.The hydraulic press works by pressing a small amount of force onto the Plunger which presses the fluid below. This pressure is then distributed evenly which in turn raises the Ram. The pressure between the Plunger and the Ram then works to crush the item placed between them.
