Among raw materials for manufacturing Agarbatti like Jigat powder, joss. powder, saw dust etc. bamboo stick is one of the main constituents, The dried petals are powdered and mixed with natural plant resins and a special kind of sauce is added to make a dough. The dough is hand rolled in shape of incense sticks and cones and are again kept for drying. The dried sticks and cones are then dipped in essential oils, milk and honey, Agarbatti manufacturing business is quite lucrative. Also, with some small machinery and equipment, one can begin this manufacturing business even at home.In India, incense sticks, called Agarbatti (Agar: from Dravidian probably Tamil (agil), (agir)., Sanskrit vatti, "wound" or "grief"), are a large part of the economy and many religions in the region.It is a common practice to light aroma sticks, candles, and such stimulants in the bedroom before retiring for the night. Agarbattis can also make you sleep better. It contains strong scents which act as natural sedatives, have a soothing sensation on the body and helping your body relax., A typical composition of stick incense consists of 21% (by weight) of herbal and wood powder, 35% of fragrance material, 11% of adhesive powder, and 33% of bamboo stick [15]. Herbal and wood powders used in incense making include Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch.The incense stick formula is composed of 30 to 40 parts of bamboo core, 30 to 40 parts of Chinese yew leaf powder, 15 to 40 parts of sticky powder and 1 to 5 parts of potassium nitrate by weight.
