Its primary function is to record the cumulative number of surge events (lightning and switching surges) discharged through the arrester, and often includes a milli-ammeter for continuous leakage current monitoring.The SC 23-1 model is a robust, weatherproof unit built for long-term outdoor operation without requiring an external power source Functionality: Surge Counting: It uses a reliable mechanical counter (typically 6 digits) to record each significant discharge event through the arrester.
