The conical twin screw extruder CTSE is used for testing the extrusion behavior of products which are processed mainly in twin screw extruders in production as well.A twin screw extruder is a machine consisting of two intermeshing, co-rotating screws mounted on splined shafts in a closed barrel. The screws are tight and self-wiping, which eliminates stagnant zones over the entire length of the process section. This results in high efficiency and perfect self-cleaning.Twin screw extrusion is a process during which a mixture of ingredients, called extrudate, is forced through an opening in a perforated plate or die to produce a quantity of specifically shaped food products.
