Key Characteristics: Low Carbon:The ≤0.03% carbon content prevents the formation of intergranular carbides, enhancing resistance to intergranular corrosion. High Silicon:The silicon content (typically 0.65-1.00%) improves the filler metal's wettability and helps achieve a smoother weld bead. Base Metal Compatibility:It is ideal for welding 18 Cr / 8 Ni type stainless steels, including grades like AISI 301, 302, 304, 304L, 308, and 308L. Corrosion Resistance:The weld metal offers excellent resistance to intergranular attack from various liquid media. Improved Usability:The silicon addition makes ER308LSi particularly suited for the gas metal arc welding (GMAW) process.
