A curling tool (also known as a beading or flanging tool) is a metalworking device used to form the edges of sheet metal into a hollow, circular roll. This process, called curling, is primarily used to eliminate sharp edges, increase the structural rigidity of a part, and provide a finished appearance. Types of Curling Tools and EquipmentDepending on the production volume and part size, different tools are used: Press Brake Curling Dies: These are specialized punch-and-die sets used for precision curling on a press brake. Standard Die Sets: Often require multiple "hits" (typically three) to complete a full circular curl. Inserts: High-strength tool steel die inserts can be added to standard holders to handle heavier gauge materials.
