ER5356 is a high-magnesium (5%), high-strength, corrosion-resistant aluminum welding filler wire suitable for welding various 5000 series aluminum alloys, especially in marine applications or environments near saltwater. This general-purpose wire is known for its good ductility, high shear strength, and ability to be color-matched after anodizing, making it a versatile choice for MIG and TIG processes. Key Characteristics & Composition High Magnesium Content:The "5356" designation indicates the presence of approximately 5% magnesium (Mg). Enhanced Properties:Increased levels of magnesium, titanium (Ti), and manganese (Mn), along with chromium (Cr), provide higher shear strength and excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in saltwater. Silicon (Si) Content:ER5356 has a low silicon content (around 0.25 wt%), which is a key distinction from other aluminum alloys like ER4043. Anodizing:It offers good color match after anodizing, making it suitable for applications where a uniform appearance is desired.
