Essential Oil Information As a double-bond isomer of anethole, Methyl chavicol (estragole) is primary constituent of essential oil of tarragon (makes up to 60–75%) of total oil. Further, it is also found in basil essential oil (23–88%), fennel, anise (2%), pine oil and turpentine. Oil PropertiesThe oil is a colorless to pale yellow liquid and has a herby, spicy, somewhat anise aroma.
