Oxidation converts the ferrous form to the insoluble ferric form (Fe3+), which can then be removed through subsequent processes. Common oxidizing agents used for iron oxidation include chlorine, potassium permanganate, or ozone. The choice of oxidant depends on the water quality and specific requirements.Filtration: After oxidation, the water passes through a filtration system to remove the oxidized iron and manganese particles. Sand Filtration: The water is passed through a bed of fine sand or multimedia filtration media, which captures and retains the oxidized iron and manganese particles.b. Catalytic Filtration: In catalytic filtration, a specialized filter media, such as manganese greensand or granular catalytic activated carbon, is used.
