Description
The lat pull-down is an exercise you can do with a weight machine to work the muscles on the sides of your chest wall and upper back.The "lat" sometimes added before "pull-down" commonly refers to the latissimus dorsi used in the movement. Most exercises describe the muscle that is involved and the direction of the exercise e.g. biceps curl, triceps extension, leg press, hamstring curl, abdominal curl and so on.The lat pulldown is an upper-body exercise that focuses on the muscles of your back. Much like the squat and bench press, it's considered a compound exercise — meaning that it targets many muscles at once. Besides increasing your back's strength, the lat pulldown can also promote good posture and stability.Similar to pull-ups, lat pulldowns have been identified as primary exercises for activating the latissimus dorsi, teres major, pectoralis major, infraspinatus, subscapularis (in the glenohumeral shoulder joint), rhomboids, middle trapezius, lower trapezius, pectoralis minor in the scapulothoracic.
