You might also find the need to locate underground pipes and cables during a new construction project.Today's metal detectors are one of two types: Balanced Coil systems, which are general-purpose metal detectors using coils and electronic fields, and Ferrous-in-Foil systems, which use strong magnetic fields to detect harmful ferrous metallic contaminants (magnetic, containing iron) in products.Cable detectors are made up of two parts; the transmitter and receiver. An electric signal is transferred through a cable pipe by the transmitter and the receiver picks up the signal. This allows the operator to trace the signals path and detect the cable or pipe.
