In the garment and apparel industry, metal detecting devices are utilised to detect needles that may have been accidentally lodged in finished garments. Metal detectors are useful for finding metal inclusions hidden within objects, or metal objects buried underground. They often consist of a handheld unit with a sensor probe which can be swept over the ground or other objects.Today's metal detectors are one of two types: Balanced Coil systems, which are general-purpose metal detectors using coils and electronic fields, and Ferrous-in-Foil systems, which use strong magnetic fields to detect harmful ferrous metallic contaminants (magnetic, containing iron) in products.
