Stud welding is a process by which a metal stud, also referred to as a weld stud, is joined to a metal workpiece by heating both parts with an arc. A key factor that differentiates stud welding from other fastening processes is that the fastener is attached to the workpiece without marring the other side.The acronym IGBT stands for “Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors”. These are high-speed switching devices used in all Weldclass Inverter welding machines which facilitate the voltage regulation.Both AC and DC can be used in the arc welding. Usually, 70 – 100 V on AC supply and 50 – 60 V on DC system is sufficient to strike the arc in the air gap between the electrodes. Once the arc is struck, 20 – 40 V is only required to maintain it.A stud is a vertical framing member which forms part of a wall or partition. Also known as wall studs, they are a fundamental component of frame construction and are typically made of timber. However, steel studs are increasingly popular, particularly for non load-bearing walls and firewalls.
