Stainless threaded weld studs are mostly stocked in grade 302HQ / 30430. on the weld end to preclude the plating from compromising the weld quality. studs can be annealed to a maximum of 75 Rockwell B hardness and 85 Rockwell B hardness, respectively.During stud welding, an arc is ignited between one end of the stud and the workpiece. Both joining partners are melted and then joined under low contact pressure. The stud welding process usually takes less than a second. Stud welding can be used for both round and rectangular cross-sections.The four main types of welding are: Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), and Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).striking the weld stud with a hammer, or by sliding a length of pipe over the weld stud, the stud can be bent a minimum of 30 degrees away from its axis, or until failure occurs. Satisfactory welded studs should exhibit a complete 90 degree bend without failure.
