a vibrator used for consolidating concrete by application to the surfaceof a mass of freshly mixed concrete; four principal types exist: vibrating screeds, pan vibrators, plate or grid vibratory tampers, and vibratory roller screeds.The surface vibrators commonly used are pan vibrators and vibrating screeds. The main application of this type of vibrator is in the compaction of small slabs, not exceeding 150 mm in thickness, and patching and repair work of pavement slabs. The operating frequency is about 4000 rpm at an acceleration of 4g to 9g.Cement Concrete and Aggregates Australia, also known as CCAA, describes concrete vibration and compaction as the process which expels entrapped air from freshly placed concrete and packs the aggregate particles together so as to increase the density of concrete.
