This is achieved by compressed air or other gases, depending on the material to be cut.1.2 Types of plasma arc machining system. There are two types of Plasma Arc Machining (PAM) Systems such as Transferred Arc PAM system and Non-Transferred Arc PAM system. In Transferred Arc PAM system, Plasma arc is transferred between electrode and workpiece. There are two types of plasma cutting torches: The most common one has a high-frequency starting system that creates a spark using a high-voltage transformer, capacitors, and a spark-gap assembly.
