It converts direct current into high frequency square wave alternating current, with the low frequency direct current coming out rectified by the high frequency transformer at the output. A resistor capacitance connected in parallel at both ends of IGBT is the network for absorption of the base peak voltage.IGBT stands for insulated-gate bipolar transistor. Figure (a) shows the symbol of an IGBT. It is a power transistor that combines an input MOS and an output bipolar transistor.IGBT improves dynamic performance and efficiency and reduced the level of audible noise. It is equally suitable in resonant-mode converter circuits. Optimized IGBT is available for both low conduction loss and low switching loss.
