While punch presses are faster for mass production, using a louver tool on a press brake is ideal for large panels that are too big for a turret or for shops that want to consolidate slitting and forming into one operation.How it Works: The "Controlled Collision"A louver tool does not just bend metal; it performs a high-pressure shearing and stretching action: Shearing: The sharp edge of the punch penetrates the material to create a "slit". Forming: As the ram continues downward, the displaced metal is forced into the die cavity, stretching it into the characteristic "vent" shape. Completion: The process happens in a single hit, often taking 1.2 to 8 seconds depending on the machine and part handling.
