Hydrostatic testing (also referred to as hydro testing) is a type of test that fills a pressure vessel or pipe system with fluid to a specified PSI to ensure it can safely hold the amount of pressure it is rated for and maintain structural integrity.Hydrostatic pumps are pumps used in hydraulic systems that work via positive displacement. Positive displacement involves the process of trapping of a fluid and then displacing, or forcing, it through a controlled channel.Hydro testing, more formally called hydrostatic testing, is a type of test that is performed on pressure vessels to check for leaks. Hydro testing involves completely filling up a pressure vessel with water and then pressurizing it. Once pressurized, leaks can be detected.These hydrostatic test pumps also known as hydrostatic line tester ensure that the pipes used for transferring water and other fluids or gases are safe to use. They will detect a leak no mater how small it may be. They are also used on newly installed pipes to make sure that they are safe and connected well.
