Superior Strength: Provides higher as-welded tensile strengths than 5356, especially for alloys like 5083. Excellent Corrosion Resistance: Offers great resistance to seawater, making it perfect for marine environments. Good Toughness: Provides high fracture toughness for impact resistance. Anodizes White: Results in a white finish when anodized, offering good color matching. Non-Heat Treatable: It's a non-heat-treatable alloy. Common Applications: Marine Structures: Ships, offshore platforms, and other marine components. Cryogenic Equipment: Storage tanks and piping for low-temperature applications. Transportation: Railcars and automotive structures. Pressure Vessels: Unfired pressure vessels.
