ER5556 is an Aluminum-Manganese-Magnesium alloy welding wire designed for welding higher-strength aluminum alloys like the 5XXX series, offering excellent tensile strength, good ductility, high crack resistance, and good post-weld corrosion resistance, with a distinctive white appearance after anodizing. It is suitable for both MIG (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW) welding processes and is a common choice for base metals such as 5154, 5254, and 5456. Key Characteristics High Strength:ER5556 provides high tensile strengths, making it ideal for welding higher-strength 5XXX series aluminum alloys. Corrosion Resistance:The high levels of magnesium and manganese in the alloy contribute to excellent corrosion resistance. Crack Resistance:Increased magnesium and zinc content compared to other alloys, such as ER5356, enhances crack resistance. Ductility:The alloy offers good ductility, which is beneficial for many applications. Post-Anodizing Color:The weld metal has a white color after anodizing.
