Hydrostatic testing (also referred to as hydro testing) is a type of test that fills a pressure vessel or pipe system with fluid to a specified PSI to ensure it can safely hold the amount of pressure it is rated for and maintain structural integrity.Hydro testing, more formally called hydrostatic testing, is a type of test that is performed on pressure vessels to check for leaks. Hydro testing involves completely filling up a pressure vessel with water and then pressurizing it. Once pressurized, leaks can be detected.Hydrostatic pressure refers to the pressure that any fluid in a confined space exerts. If fluid is in a container, there will be some pressure on the wall of that container.Branch of physics that deals with the characteristics of fluids at rest, particularly with the pressure in a fluid or exerted by a fluid (gas or liquid) on an immersed body.
